Species and Exhibit Sponsorships

Perth Zoo’s exhibits are planned and constructed in accordance with our conservation objectives and priorities. Naturalistic exhibits combine a positive, comfortable environment for the animals and good viewing opportunities for visitors.

Sponsoring an exhibit brings with it a raft of benefits, including valuable positive publicity, a feel-good factor amongst your staff and customer base and permanent on-site recognition to our 600,000 visitors each year.

Your company can sponsor the particular species that may be pertinent to your business, your brand or line of work. Investments will vary based on species, location of the exhibit, benefits provided to your organisation and leveraging opportunities.

Event Sponsorships

Sponsoring a Zoo event, whether a school holiday program or a spectacular evening performance, is a highly visible way to demonstrate your association with Perth Zoo, to a growing audience.

Perth Zoo hosts a range of family-focussed entertainment events each year. This family entertainment in the unique surrounds of the Zoo, has become increasingly popular with many events selling-out.

Perth Zoo's successful events program is now a major component of the Zoo's core business operations. Some of our current event successes include:

Peters Trumpet Happy Zoo YearPeters Trumpet Happy Zoo Year - a special night for families with young children and those looking for an alternative to the usual New Year's Eve celebrations. This sell-out event combines the excitement of pyrotechnics, confetti cannons, a giant kid's clock and 9pm countdown. Peters and Brownes has sponsored Peters Trumpet Happy Zoo Year for over 8 years and is now synonymous with the event.

Kid's Night OutKid’s Night Out presented by Commonwealth Bank – an evening concert for parents with young children. The event held in January 2008 hosted the popular children’s group, The Hooley Dooleys and Perth band Murphy’s Lore.

Cause-related Marketing

With brands competing for customer loyalty, and growing public awareness of issues such as climate change and its impacts on global conservation, there has never been a more vital time to show your company cares about our world.

Nothing draws customers like a good cause. As part of a multi-tiered sponsorship, a cause related marketing campaign can increase sales whilst generating funds for conservation. It can reach customers in a way traditional advertising can not. Cause-related marketing creates brand loyalty and can show a return on your sponsorship investment.

For Perth Zoo, cause-related marketing campaigns bring much needed exposure and funding for Perth Zoo’s fundraising program, Wildlife Conservation Action.

Case Study

In 2006, Perth Zoo worked with Peters and Brownes (Fonterra Pty Ltd) on a cause-related marketing campaign with their yoghurt range.  Various promotional activities took place to jointly promote the specially-marked yoghurt tubs, with Perth Zoo receiving 5 cents for each product sold. Perth Zoo and Peters and Brownes were delighted with the promotion as over $35,000 was raised for Perth Zoo’s, now completed, Project Sun Bear.

In-kind Sponsorship

In-kind sponsorship is an ideal way to link your brand with Perth Zoo, communicating your dedication to conservation.

Examples of in-kind sponsorship include:

  • an airline providing flights for staff and acts for events
  • audio and visual equipment

Case study – Western Power

Western Power donated old telephone poles for many exhibits at Perth Zoo. They are used as barriers in the rhinoceros exhibit and are part of the climbing structure in the Orang-utan exhibits. As part of its support, Western Power covered costs of crane hire to hoist the poles into position in the exhibits.
