With two adorable tiny Bolivian Squirrel Monkeys joining the growing cohort of babies at Perth Zoo, there’s never been a better time to visit!
 
These two cheeky primates were born to mums Sue and Vivo in the Amazonia habitat this month and can now be spotted exploring the world while clinging on tightly to their mum’s backs.
 
Not only are these births a conservation milestone for the coordinated species program, but having babies adds a special social dynamic for our group of Bolivian Squirrel Monkeys.
 
Under the watchful eye of our dedicated animal carers, both sets of mums and bubs have been doing well and other females have taken on their natural ‘aunty’ roles to help raise the little ones.



Perth Zoo Primate Keeper, Mel Mirville, said: "Sue and Vivo are both doing really well and have taken to motherhood quickly - we're very proud of them!

"We've been able to watch the babies hit their early milestones like suckling, and holding on tight to their mums.

"It's going to be a really special time for the monkeys because social groups of Squirrel Monkeys share the care of the young, and we're already seeing the aunty behaviour from other females."

Meanwhile our recently announced ADORABLE Goodfellow’s Tree Kangaroo joey has grown more confident and very lucky visitors have seen her start to venture out of mum’s pouch!
